As you might have noticed, for the last few days we were making changes in the forum. Here I will describe what has been done and what is planned.

-- We have deleted all members with 0 posts. There have been near 25 000 of such users.
-- We have closed free registration and implemented GMail-like invitation system. This means that whom do you want to see on this forum is totally depends on you. You can send invitations to your friends and only this way they can get an account here.

There's also few restrictions on the invitations:

-- It is only granted to members with 50 and greater posts.
-- Number of invitations that you can send is limited and may vary.
-- Invitations are not only logged, but are kept in some kind of network. This means that it's possible to view who has invited a member and whom that member invited after. If a member gets banned, all the users that are invited by him are going to be examined for the activity. And they can get banned too. Think whom you invite.


To send an invitation, go to 'My Controls' -> Invitation component.

Wow, great news for the forum. I hope that the members use the invitations in the correct way.

nice feature. Control, control, control. This kind of measure is unavoidable.

I'm 100% for this as it is only way to separate good guys from leachers and also I believe in this way we will have better community.

I have sent an invitation to a friend. He has not received it. It's a Yahoo Mail account. He has checked his spam folder... weird ! Do you know what could be the problem ?

We haven't received error message neither from yahoo nor from the other hosts on the route. Will wait.

As for invitations that were sent more than seven days ago -- they are expired. Your number of invitations must have been increased so you can resend them.

Все инвайты, которые были посланы более чем семь дней назад, просрочены. Они должны были вернуться к вам, можете их отправлять повторно. Я вчера проверял, они приходят и на yahoo и на gmail и на mail.ru. Единственное что, yahoo иногда выпендривается и принимает письмо от нас только через несколько часов.

Max value of member_id is 99999999. But even if we will reach this number some day, we can make some optimizations and continue to run without any problems.

Registration system is working out real well! The moderatorteam has far less work than it used to have and we are getting some solid very very good sharers.
